“Sights on the Future: EMDR Therapy as a Tool for Transformative Foresight” (Compass, coming January 2026), co-authored with Suzanne Aikins, MA, RP, EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist
This article explores how EMDR therapy can unlock deeper strategic capacity by addressing the emotional and neurobiological barriers that limit leaders’ ability to think creatively about the future. Blending psychology, trauma science, and strategic foresight, it shows how unresolved stress responses shape decision‑making, group dynamics, and organizational planning. By integrating EMDR with foresight tools such as the Futures Triangle, the article argues for a healing‑centered approach to strategy—one that frees leaders from the weight of the past so they can imagine and act on more expansive, transformative futures.
“The Trojan Moose: Exploring Canadian Futures Through the Lens of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA)” (Journal of Futures Studies, 2025), Doyle, C., Pierre, D. N., Prowse, C., Koblyk, L., Elliott, C., Congson, K., Inayatullah, S., & Oliver, D.
The article explored how Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) can be used to examine Canada’s possible futures by uncovering the litany, systems, worldviews, and metaphors shaping national issues. Drawing on a Masterclass facilitated with Sohail Inayatullah and over 30 Canadian leaders, the paper presents four CLA analyses—healthcare, post-secondary education, Canada–U.S. relations, and small business resilience—and develops four future scenarios ranging from status quo to radical transformation. It demonstrates how CLA can spark deeper insight, challenge assumptions, and support more imaginative policy conversations.
“Feelings at Play” (Misc Magazine, August 2018), co-authored with medical anthropologist Melissa Atkinson-Graham, PhD
Article offered an anthropological and deeply personal look at the Let’s Radiate Project, a creative mindfulness practice born from the experience of illness and the search for meaning within it. The piece explored how the project transforms a devastating cancer diagnosis into a source of beauty, agency, and connection.
“The Shadow Side of Excellence” (Misc Magazine, October 2016), co-authored with organizational change expert Maya Boritz
Article explored how humanity’s growing ability to design, optimize, and perfect our world—through automation, AI, biotechnology, and advanced engineering—brings both extraordinary possibility and profound trade‑offs. It examined what we may sacrifice in our pursuit of excellence, and which imperfections remain essential to being human.
Mama (nature) x Futures (strategic imagination)
I created Mama Futures because, as a strategy and foresight practitioner, I’ve always seen nature as one of our greatest teachers.
The way ecosystems adapt, regenerate, and respond to change offers powerful clues for how we can design better futures for people and the planet.
Mama Futures is my way of bringing that wisdom into strategic work — blending imagination, insight, and a deep respect for the natural world to help us navigate what comes next.
